This program provides students with a pathway to gain direct entry into VET courses for international students offered at TAFE Queensland. Successful completion of this program lets international students enter TAFE Queensland VET courses directly, no separate IELTS test needed.
English for Academic Purposes
Alternatively, you can also choose our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course. The EAP course is designed to help international students to develop the skills required to undertake further studies in Australia and at TAFE. You will learn how to complete the types of tasks and assignments required at university and college in Australia, giving you a thorough preparation for your next step in an English-speaking academic environment.

Our EAP classes focus on helping students to develop the language skills and academic proficiencies necessary for success in an academic context.
Additional Study Inclusions
Our college provides students with a wide range of additional opportunities for extra study, allowing students to focus on areas of interest or weakness, to practice using English with other students, and to make new friends. Study Options which are regularly offered include:
- Conversation classes
- Vocabulary and grammar classes
- Presentation classes
Students can access a variety of self-study materials as part of the study club program, including online classes and one-on-one tutorials. These online resources allow students to better focus their studies on areas of personal interest, to more easily review past lesson topics, and to access high-quality study materials.
YouSTUDY App
Our students have access to our free phone app to practice their vocabulary and pronunciation skills by listening, reading, and speaking. Learn soft skills through role-play, and prepare for Job Interviews with feedback. You can also use the app to evaluate your current English proficiency based on the CEFR English Levels.

- 17 years International students enrolling at TAFE Queensland generally must be a minimum of 17 years of age at the time of commencement, and turning 18 during their first year of study

- Exit Score
- On successful completion of the course an Exit Letter will be provided by the College to TAFE QLD confirming the student’s level at 6.0 overall or above, with no individual band less than 5.5, and also an attendance percentage.
- Additional TAFE QLD Conditions
- There should be no more than a 3-month gap in study between completion of these ELICOS pathway courses and referral to TAFE Queensland There should be a sustained attendance record of 80% Note: Students with more than three months study gap since course completion can submit evidence of continued study in Australia in an English medium. The student will be issued with a relevant graduation certificate; and a pathway letter on the School’s letterhead stating the student’s English proficiency level at course completion; the duration of the ELICOS pathway course completed by the student; that the student achieved the minimum IELTS score designated by TAFE Queensland
